Ron Erhardt feels the heat; responds with profanity

BREAKING NEWS: Rep. Ron Erhardt, in responding to a caller asking him to uphold the Governor's veto on the transportation bill and all of the taxes it contains and to not support the Democrat override attempt responded with anger and profanity, telling the caller to "tell the people who told you to call to go 'F***' themselves."

The Governor vetoed the Transportation Funding Bill Friday. It contains a gas tax and a sales tax and a license fee tab tax and a new excise tax and a car rental tax to the tune of more than $500 in new yearly taxes for a family of four making between $49,000 and $79,000.

Carver County Republicans have been calling House Republicans who might support an override, including Ron Erhardt, to ask them to stand against the tax increases and any override attempt.

House Democrats could push for a veto override as early as this Monday.

The call was made by Tom Winterer of Chanhassen to Erhardt's Edina home this morning. Winterer is new to grassroots politics, and just joined the Carver County Republicans at the Feb. 5 precinct caucuses. He is a delegate to the Carver County Convention March 1 at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum.

In the call, Erhardt asked Winterer why he was calling, since he was not a constituent or Edina resident.

"I'm calling because I'm going to be taxed under your veto override," Winterer said. "He told me I didn't know what I was talking about. I told him there are vast sums of money that are not being directed properly."

Erhardt responded, "Tell the people who told you to call to go "F***' themselves and that they are full of 'S***'."

Erhardt is being challenged for the Republican endorsement by Keith Downey. The endorsing convention is March 8.

Some of the emailed responses:

"Ron had a very bad day today, that was just the begining. Some of the RINO's did not think we would start refusing to endorse. Guess they have not been paying attention."

"Hi Amy, More info on the Rinos. “The heat is on…”

"From a friend that I forwarded this to: I was with Neil Peterson and Kathy Tinglestad today. Both, while not swearing at others, were jerks too. Neil actually called Erhardt and told him not to come to Kathy's endorsement convention (which was not allowed to be heard and so she was not endorsed) because the crowd was too hostile.

Had you heard that as well? These people need to go!"

"That makes sense. Some politicians really don't care about the taxpayers; just about spending our money recklessly."

Ron Erhardt is the dude! He doesn't care about your strange pothole-oriented dogmas. He wants to see this state win, and doesn't care if some cheapskate backwater types are gonna be Haters. For even putting up with you guys, he's really Keepin' It Real. Please invest in Minnesota - why not?

Why not?!!!

Let's see...

Why not rush this through BEFORE the state economic forecast comes out and reveals that the residents of the state are already suffering through a recession, already stripped bare by high gas prices and soaring mortgage arms?

Why not use the heavy hammer of government? ...thank you Ladieslogic.com, as she added it up:
"Two cents a GALLON next month and 3 cents A GALLON in October.... For drivers like myself that is an extra $2.00 a week, $8.00 a month, $104 a year per car (we have two) and that is in ADDITION to the sales tax increase and in ADDITION TO the license tab fee increase and in ADDITION TO the 3.5 cents per gallon gas tax surcharge..."

Why not pretend you are raising money for roads and bridges, when that money will actually pay for transit and new "green" buses that no one in Carver County - and most of the state - has access to?

Why not put small trucking and construction firms out of business with endless taxes and fees? Firms that have barely making ends meet as it is.

Why not close car dealerships throughout the state?

Why not use government engineering to force people out of their cars ... even in places where there is no alternative mode of transportation?

Why not laden the bill with earmarks and pet projects to flower wavering lawmakers' districts with bike trails and fountains, just to keep them in line?

Why not ignore other, wasteful state programs and existing streams of revenue that could fund roads?

Why not use coercsion and threaten to oppose legislation that would allow business to expand and thrive in other lawmakers districts in order to force them to override?

Yea, sure, why not?
